Sunday cycle on ***** meet at Oxsrad *****

Ok fingers crossed Sunday looks fantastic day weather wise and I for one cannot wait to breathe some fresh air. Today’s rain should clear all the snow with just a slight chance of a frost Sunday morning.
I will lead a 2 / 3 hour steady ride tomorrow depending on what people want to do.
For 2010 it has been decided to use Oxsrad more as a base. As a club we are affiliated to them and they are keen to help us have roots there. This means lockers, showers , toilets and free car parking for those who have to drive in. Plus tea and coffee is available on our return at the cafe there. Not forgetting Oxsrad is a charity organisation so using them helps.
Therefore all Sunday rides will now meet and leave at Oxsrad www.oxsrad.org
9.30 for a 9.45 kick off
Adam has sent a few e mails around, but anyone can set forward to lead a ride, it would be a great help. We would like to have 2 steady lead rides a week. A 2 hour route and a 3 hour, if we all lead one a year its sorted. Please contact Adam inspired2 [at] hotmail [dot] com
Another point re cycling is just a quick note to explain sportives to anyone who does not know what they are. Quite a few oxford members do these events which are a fantastic day out and good training especially for the longer triathlons. Sportives are basically organised cycle rides with routes signed and laid out, even feed stations for the longer ones. Enter online, turn up and ride at your own pace or hang on for grim death in one of the groups that form. The choice is yours, they are not a race. Most events have 2 distances to have a go at to suit everyone.
Check out www.cyclosport.org for a good list of events, there are many around Oxford if you don’t want to travel too far including Chilterns and a very popular Princess Risborough event on the 25th April.
See youout there
Ian
