RESULTS: BaR event, 11 August 2009

Due to the 4-up time-trial that saw 32 Oxford Triathletes do very well at Weston on the Green, there were only fourteen starters for the eighth edition of this year's Summer BaR series. Lucy Scarborough decided to give it a go herself after watching Craig a few times, well done on your first outing, I hope it won't be your last.. New personal bests were set by Adrian Pugh, Allan Mollineaux and Matt Hammond. Adrian was fastest in all three sections to win by a huge margin from Allan who missed going under the hour by only 36 seconds and Clive Shackell in third.

Jane Bell led the women home despite some mechanical problems on the bike followed by Heather Grimes and Emma McDermott.

Tom Blincowe was on target to go under the hour for the first time before some back problem made him pull out after one lap of the second run. I hope it's getting better quickly and you have a fantastic race on Sunday in Hide Park.

As the days get shorter, the next two events will start earlier: the last one in the series on 25 August [sign-up here] will start at 6.45, and the Handicap Final on 8 September [sign-up here] will see the first person off at 6.30.

In the Handicap Final the handicaps are rounded to the nearest ten seconds and the first person over the line wins a trophy.
