Bletchingdon BAR Series
NOTE: SIGNING UP/START LIST
The BaRTT is very popular; to ensure the event runs smoothly and to minimise disruption to the locals we cap the number of people taking part at 35. To take part you need to sign up by clicking on the date to the right of this text and click 'Sign Up'. This adds you to the list. You can cancel your signup if your circumstances change.
The start list (with handicap starts) takes a while to draw up so is written on the Monday before the event. Therefore if you wish to cancel your entry please do so before 0800 Monday morning. If you are on the start list but do not turn up you are taking a place away from someone else who wants to do it. If you are not on the start list on Monday please don't turn up and ask the timekeeper to add you - this adds to their hassle and delays the event.
Sign up is opened immediately after the previous round.
Event Description
The BaRTT (Bike and Run Time Trial) is a 1 mile run, 12 mile bike, 3 mile run time trial to track (and improve) our fitness over the season. Athletes start individually with time gaps between each group. Slower althetes start earlier and faster athletes start later, ensuring no one is left on the course on their own and everyone ideally finishes at about the same time.
2011 Dates
All events are on Tuesday evening, with 10 regular rounds and a handicap final.
Please let the Team Captain(s) know which week you are able to Time Keep or Marshall - The event only happens if people step forward.

Time keepers/Marshall
Like everything OxfordTri run, this event can only happen if people give up their time to make it work, therefore we ask everyone who takes part in a BaRTT over the year to volunteer one evening to time-keep or marshall. Timekeepers receive a startlist on the day of the event and simply start people at the given intervals shown and record each leg time and the finish time. The marshall is based at the junction of the B4027/A4095 and simply raises the profile of the event with signs & fluorescent vest. You inform the athletes if traffic is coming by simply saying "Traffic" but must not tell athletes the road is clear or safe; - that is a decision athletes must make for themselves.
Season Long Tracking
There are 2 ways for you to help track you performance and motivate you over the coming season of BaRTTs
1) The handicap final event: The takes a slightly different format with the time intervals calculated in a cunning and scientific manor with a prize for the first athlete to cross the finishing time.
The handicapping formula will be: ( par time - ( (best time + average time) / 2 ) )
2) A season long tracking system whereby points are awarded for times (50 for the quickest, 44, 40, 37, 35, 34, 33 and so on) with bonus points for being female (+2 per race), being aged over 40 (+2 per race) and being aged over 50 (+2 per race); your best 5 scores will be counted and (or best 4 and your best again, if you help) there will be a prize for the person with the most points at the end of the season.
Please contact the Team Captain(s) if you wish to volunteer for any of the free time-keeping or marshaling slots or if you wish to let me know you are eligible for one of the age based bonus points systems (i.e. are of a more advanced age)
